Spoiler Fabrication

Motivated by Jared Gaillard's BMW, I decided to fabricate my own spoiler. As Jared noted in the Improved Touring discussion lists, it wasn't that hard.

First, I started by buying some 1/2" foam from the Big Orange Race Car Parts Warehouse (a.k.a. "Home Depot). I trimmed off 6 inches from a side; using a heat gun and some masking tape I taped that strip onto the bottom of my factory spoiler.

From there it was an easy matter of laying up four layers of 6oz fiberglass over the whole shebang, then painting it. I think I spent about 8 hours on it? I'll have to put some more time in it; it will be too long per the Improved Touring rules (cannot extend farther down than the bottom of the wheels. Watch this page for photo updates as available.
